The Nintendo DS isn’t exactly a system known for it’s incredible 3D graphics or brute processing capabilities, but that hasn’t stopped a French homebrew developer from trying to port Valve’s physics puzzler Portal to the system.
So far the transition is going better than you might expect. Hit the jump for some footage of Portal on the DS…
So yeah, I doubt we’ll ever see the entire game running on a DS, but it looks like all the basic Portal mechanics are in place, which is impressive in its own right.
Here’s my main takeaway from this — wouldn’t portable Portal be awesome? Sure, the game looks ugly on the DS, but the 3DS and Vita could handle the Portal games without much sweat. I want to give you more money Valve! Make it happen!
