‘Fringe’ Finale Announced!

Earlier this year, it was announced that Fringe, the sci-fi series created by J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, would be renewed for a fifth season. It was, but not without a fight. The show already had to contend with falling ratings and the move to the feared Friday night “Death” slot of late-night television just piled on top. Through the efforts of it’s fandom however, the show persevered. Alas, all good things come to an end. The show, which explored the wild wonders of the fringes of science, is finally coming to a close.

Fringe executive producer J.H. Wyman confirmed the end of the show via Twitter. Answering a question on when the final episode will air, he tweeted:

FYI: the question was asked by bassist and guitarist for Marilyn Manson. True story.

Fox hasn’t confirmed the air date of the finale, which Wyman confirmed he will write and direct, but mark your calendars for Feb 1st, 2013 for now. Fringe will return for it’s final season Sept. 28th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

I’m bummed it’s over. I’m going to miss this modern day X-Files.
