In a move that's going to put a lot of fans at ease, Variety is reporting James O'Barr, creator of the original graphic novel, is now involved with Relativity Media's new adaptation of The Crow as a "creative consultant." This remake already has F. Javier Gutierrez directing, screenwriter Cliff Dorfman, and Luke Evans attached to star. Shooting won't begin until 2014, but expect both O'Barr and Gutierrez to appear at San Diego Comic-Con.
Here's a little statement from O'Barr,
It seems in the coming weeks we'll learn more about the direction they're hoping to take this new adaptation - don't call it a remake! - but how are you feeling about it now? What do you think of O'Barr coming on board as a creative consultant? It is important for 'Crow' fans to understand that Relativity, Javier, Luke and the entire team are working on a new adaptation of the book itself. I believe that this movie will stand alongside Brandon and his film as a valid work of art, and I look forward to collaborating on the project.
