Batman has a lot of cars, jets, subs, & other vehicles. There are almost way too many to even mention! But if you ask a large group of people what their favorite car is then one of the top ones has got to be the 1966 Batmobile Car designed by George Barris for the '66 Batman TV Show. It will always be #1 because it's a Classic! Recently, I have come across a few "Bat-Car-Inspired" photos & decided to share them here. The 1st pic is of an actual "George Barris item" you can buy, not from me, but from his personal website. It's a 1966 BAT-CAR Lapel Pin made out of metal & when I last checked it was only $8.00, a great deal. The 2nd photo is of a fine art painting I saw on the Jonathan Levine Art Gallery website. An artist named M. Todd did this wonderful painting totally inspired by the famous TV car. I really like the primative, almost child-like, style of the art...very nice. The last photo is sort of a humor photo but it's also extremely cool because it's real. This is one of those little micro-mini eco cars that have been popping-up lately. This one has been totally customized to look like Batman's car! It's black, with classic red pinstriping, just like the Barris Car. Also, Ya gotta love those big-tailfins! Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed some of these pics, I thought they were cool. One of the things I really love about doing the Bat-Blog is getting unexpected messages from Batman Fans who have some special angle on the character. Everybody seems to love the character for different reasons. For some it's the Movies, Comic Books, Toys, Animated Series, TV Show, Graphic Novel or Book, etc...and then there are the "Batmobile Fans"! They are totally CRAZY about the car! They love all the many different variations & eras. They love the "real cars", ones made custom for Movies or TV. They especially like the toy cars too! Here's a wonderful example: A Bat-Blog Reader recently shared some photos of a few cars in her Diecast Corgi Toys Batmobile Car Collection. In the 1st one we see the 1940 Batmobile. This car is one of my top favorites, very art-deco in design, beautiful. The other interesting thing about this pic is the use of the "Dick Sprang - Batcave Lithograph". Mr. Sprang was one of THE major artists of Batman's Golden Age! By accident, the same car is shown in this artwork depicting the early era of Batman. I like the ironic juxaposition here, kinda funny. In the next pic the art direction is pretty cool too. Basically it's a shot of the Corgi 1966 Bat-Boat ( from The '66 Movie! ) but the lighting is really harsh, like on a super-bright sunny day at the lake, & the boat is sitting near actual water. It kinda gives the scene an unusual amount of "fake realism"...but, very well done. Actually, they're great, thank you for sending them. If there are other creative people out there who have some Bat-Info, Pics, Art, Customs, etc...please send it!
Sort of by accident today the Bat-Blog is featuring a lot of custom items that were inspired by THE DARK KNIGHT movie. But when I saw this video a friend sent me I knew it had to be posted right away, it's cool! This is the video by a guy who made a Custom Tumbler Batmobile Car Go-Kart. It's totally beautiful. I know I'd love to have one, ha ha! We featured this thing here awhile back, but they were just photos. Now, we get to see the thing in action. OK, get ready to drool!
Here's an Italian TV Advertising Commercial from Italy. It's a short ad for the Italian CODATRONCA Car Company. The basic message, I guess, is that their new automobile looks like Batman's Car, but it is NOT the Batmobile! Ha Ha, enjoy.
OK, These photos are pretty funny and, yes, it might be a situation where "you had to be there", but I think it's totally hilarious! These 2 pics were sent in by our friend Dave who said he was just traveling down the street when all of a sudden he & his Wife saw Batman's Car going down the street!! He explains it a lot better than me so here's what he wrote: "My wife & I were heading back from the Chiller Theater Convention in New Jersey on Halloween Night and we spotted a Batmobile driving on 95 North through Connecticut! My wife Nancy tried taking a pic through my driver's window, then we caught a better pic on the passenger's side, making me MISS the exit for 95 North to Rhode Island! We were able to get back on the highway and make it home, but it was worth the pic. This gentleman driving the Batmobile looks like he modified his black Corvette with reflective tape, the Batman shield, and this gentleman actually painted and detailed the foam wings! I hope you enjoy the pics!"
Enjoy the pics? Oh man, these pics are GREAT! I also think the story is pretty funny too like how you missed your exit just to get a photo...Ha Ha! Thanks so much for sharing your story & almost risking your life. It WAS worth it!!
OK, This is getting kinda weird. Mattel must be getting ready to release this new version of the Hot Wheels 1:18 Scale Batmobile Car because they are starting to show up on eBay right now. The special thing about this one is that it is CHROME-PLATED & also made to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of DC Comics. So, if you're a Completest-Collector, who has to have every single version made, then you might keep an eye out for this one soon!
Here's a very recent interview with George Barris who we all know designed and created the Custom 1966 Batmobile Car for the Classic 60's BATMAN TV series.
"Being a Batman Collector" is really the main focus of the Bat-Blog. So, every chance we get, we try to feature Brand-New Bat-Merchandise or Older Vintage Toys. Here are 2 new items to keep an eye out for on your next hunt. The 1st photo is an AUTO WORLD 1966 BATMAN TV Show BATMOBILE SLOT CAR... in WHITE Color! Yes, besides making the actual Slot Car Set ( with track & everything ) Auto World sells just the car by itself. But they're not stopping there! They are also coming out with a few variations: the Classic "Black" Batmobile, a "Chrome" version, & a "White" one ( Shown up above ). Next is a very fun piece of Bat-Memorabilia, it's a BATMAN Belly Washers Bottle! This one was recently found in a Safeway Grocery Store ( Thanks Kevin ) & before you think you might already have this one, it is new & the figure on top is different.
Batman: The Animated Series still ranks as one of my all-time favorite Batman cartoons. I mean, I love the new "Brave and the Bold", but nothing will ever beat the old 90's series. One cool thing about that TV show was the Art Deco Style Batmobile. Well, check out the video down below. Here is a Batman Fan, who I think is an Italian, showing his custom-made Batmobile car. Hey, a friend told me about this Bat-Video & I'm wondering how I could have missed it. OMG, it's AWESOME! Basically it's all about the 1966 Batmobile, the real Batman TV & Movie Car! The cool thing is that it's origin story is being told by none other than George Barris, the car's creator! It's pretty cool, check it out!!
Now, while the BATMAN FOREVER Movie from 1995 has not been a favorite bat-film of mine I have always thought that the Batmobile from that movie was OK. This video shows a Replica Car somebody made and no matter what you think about the real car this replica is extremely well done. I especially like the interior work with all the gauges, buttons, & knobs. The outside is nice too, very well done!

Recently they all got together and created this Mini BATMAN TRIBUTE Movie that shares the adventure they had at the 2012 New Jersey State Fair. While there, they had the opportunity to film the Original 1966 Bat-Copter ( flown by Capt. Gene Nock ) and a beautiful 1966 Batman TV Show Batmobile Replica Car together!!
