Just the other day I received some extremely cool photos from a Bat-Fan named Andreas. He likes to focus a part of his Batman Collection on the crazy bootleg toys that are made in other countries. His pictures show some really great examples! The 1st one looks like it's from China & it features imagery from the 1989 Batman movie. There's The Caped Crusader, Vicki Vale, The Joker, The Bat-Wing, & The Batmobile Car. But wait! Who's that villain-goon with the eye-patch? I don't remember him in the movie, ha ha! The second toy comes from Sweden & it's one of those "Water Maze" trinkets. I really love the "bat-shape" design, very cool! The 3rd piece, also from China, is a Set of Spiderman & Batman Action Figures It looks like they're ripping off TWO movies at the same time, ha ha! The last item is one of my favorites. I think so because it just has a great vintage look about it. It's a kite with an image of PINK Batman...pink! I wanna thank Andreas for sending these these in, they're all wonderful! Thank you. OK KIDS! It's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" again & it's time to present some Batman-themed Wallpapers you can use to brighten your desktop or use as a background in your MySpace layout. Both of these were generously contributed by 2 good friends of the Bat-Blog who also happen to be extremely talented graphic artists too! Their names are Chris Mason & Sean Hartter. Chris did the 1st one which is an original drawing he did of Adam West from the 1966 TV Show. It's totally wonderful! The crisp clean line are really sharp & this thing almost looks like a photo, very realisitic. The 2nd one is just as great & with this one Sean imagined "what if.." the 1989 Batman movie was released during the Victorian era? What would the advertisement poster for the film look like back then? Well, here it is!! I love the total "vintage look", it's very interesting, & a totally original idea too. Here at the Bat-Blog we post 2 exclusive Batman Wallpaper Backgrounds every Wednesday! This week I am pretty proud to say that 2 of these were sent in by Bat-Blog Readers. ( Oh yeah, I guess I should also say that we are posting THREE WALLPAPERS this week! ) They both did the art themselves. The 1st one was done by our friend Sean Harrter. It has a distinct style that I can not express right now. It looks sort of like a handbill or an advertisement from the 16th Century. Or maybe not, sorry I'm having a hard time explaining it but it looks awesome! The 2nd one, with the 1989 Batman Movie image, was done by a new contributor named Andrew. He said this took about 8 hours to draw. He actually drew it with some computer program. Of course it is the Michael Keaton ( Tim Burton Style ) Batman. The 3rd wallpaper was made by me from some artwork I randomly found on the web. The subject matter came about because of a Bat-Blog Reader's request for Clayface. So, here it is with a really nice pencil drawing of Batman & Clayface in battle. Now, I have a few other Clayface Wallpapers that I will post after I get permission from the artists. For now, I wanna thank everybody for helping this week! If anyone else has some requests for a certain character then please let us know. Also, if you have some graphics you made that you would like to send to use as wallpaper then that would be great too!
OK, Fan-Made Tribute Music Videos usually get on my last nerve ( ha ha! ) but this one is actually kinda fun. The editing is good. Plus, the images & music go well with each other. It was done by a guy known as "Silver Lightsaber". It's his personal tribute to the Batman Movies made by Tim Burton. The music, a song called "This Is Halloween", is by Marilyn Manson. Please leave a comment & let me know if you like it or not. I just thought it was sort of clever.
I gotta say that this year Bat-Blog Fans have been totally wonderful about sending us their "Batman Halloween Costume" photos! It's great & I really appreciate it. Some have been about what they're gonna look like this year & others are from the past. I like both a lot but I have to say that I really love the vintage photos the best! I guess because they seem to bring back such fond memories. Anyway, here is our buddy Jason & his Brother Daryl. The year was 1989 & they were totally swept-up in the Batman movie ( Michael Keaton ) craze! Jason was the Dark Knight & Daryl was Robin, The Boy Wonder!! I wanna thank Jason for sending these because they're so awesome! Not just the photos, but the costumes too...very cool!

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art will present Tim Burton, a major retrospective exploring the full range of Tim Burton's creative work, both as a director of live-action and animated films, and as an artist, illustrator, photographer, and writer. Showcased here are just a few of the "Batman Items" that will be present. We got an original Batman Cowl from a Batman Movie, plus some Costume Design Drawings of both the Penguin & Catwoman from "Batman Returns" and one of The Joker ( Jack Nicholson ) from 1989's BATMAN. Plus, you know there will be much much more! Wow! It looks like a great show!It will be on view at LACMA from May 29th ( This Sunday! ) through October 31st, 2011, the exhibition brings together over 700 drawings, paintings, photographs, moving-image works, storyboards, puppets, concept artworks, maquettes, costumes, and cinematic ephemera, including art from a number of unrealized and little-known personal projects. Many of these objects come from the artist's own archive, as well as from studio archives and private collections of Burton's collaborators.Also, IMPORTANT BOOK SIGNING NOTICE:Tim Burton will be available at the LAC Museum on SATURDAY, May 28th to personally sign the exhibition catalog book. Hey People, Please be sure to scan these photos closely with your eyeballs because I promise you will see some very cool stuff! Recently, a Bat-Blog Fan named Victor was kind enough to share some photos of his wonderful BATMAN Toy Collection. He is also very much into the Statues as well. The 1st photo sort of has a 1989 Batman Movie theme to it. I remember all the merchandizing for this film and totally love this stuff. Did anybody else eat that nasty "Batman Cereal"? Victor has a sealed box! Another favorite piece is that "JOKER-Cycle". I remember that thing was pretty hard to find.
Next up is a nice assortment of 80's and 90's items, mostly "Batman: The Animated Series". I totally loved that TV show! One item that stands out here, for me anyways, is that Large 3-D Board Game. I remember buying it "new in the store". It was a HUGE BOX and the Art Deco-style graphics are beautiful.
The 3rd photo is pretty cool too and mostly features some Action Figures. I used to be a total Snob about NOT opening mine but lately I've thought they are better for display this way. Plus, the bonus is you can actually play with them! ( Not that I play "Gotham City" on the floor ). Then, speaking of "Display", Victor has this excellent Display Case he has reserved especially for his statues. Yes, these items always need extra care because they're delicate, fragile, and expensive. Now, I really love all these Statues, seriously, but two just really pop-out to me. The 1st one is that SUPER FRIENDS Maquette on the top shelf, center. That piece just brings out special childhood memories for me. The next one is on the 2nd shelf, left side. That one of Batman holding up the Batarang. That one is based on the Silver Age Artwork of Carmine Infantino. I remember when these were being sold at the Warner Bros Store. They were kind of pricey and I was broke, a bad combo, ha!
Anyways, sorry to go on and on but there's some fun stuff here. Plus, I really appreciate when Fans contribute their Bat-Collections, that's so cool! ( Thanks Victor )
Here's a fun post sharing some pictures sent to us all the way from the UK! This is a JACK NICHOLSON JOKER Art Bust Statue painted by a Bat-Blog Fan named Lee. Like I said he lives in England and also likes to be creative every now & then. Well, he recently painted this "Mike Hill Sculpt" of the Joker and it's pretty amazing! The detailing is really nice. He said he, "added that fake flower later", and I think it really accents the piece nicely, great job Lee!
Over in England there's a company called Eaglemoss that has plans to reboot their toy line of Diecast Batmobile Cars that they call, "The Batman Automobilia Collection". You might have seen these on the BAT-BLOG before, you might even own a few of the ones that were only sold in the UK.
Well, it looks like they are bringing them back and sort of starting over. To be honest, I think one problem they had before was that they didn't realize these cars would be so sought after by Americans, ha! I know a ton of Toy Collectors who had a hard time getting them here in the USA. Now, they're rebooting the project with plans to release many more cars than previously planned plus they also plan to sell them in the US and elsewhere. Another major difference too is that now the Clear Plastic Display Case is "rectangle-shaped" and not oval. This makes displaying them easier and they will also be more "stackable".Here is the new "Batman Automobilia Collection" TV Commercial. It's a great introduction and then way down below we have also added a few promo videos of other cars in the series. The 1st one in the series is the Batmobile form the 1989 Batman Movie (Michael Keaton). Then, #2 will be the 1966 Batmobile from the Classic TV Series. Both of these are available now & then other cars in the series will be released about two per month.
