George Barris-Inspired 1966 Batmobile Car Items

Batman has a lot of cars, jets, subs, & other vehicles. There are almost way too many to even mention! But if you ask a large group of people what their favorite car is then one of the top ones has got to be the 1966 Batmobile Car designed by George Barris for the '66 Batman TV Show. It will always be #1 because it's a Classic! Recently, I have come across a few "Bat-Car-Inspired" photos & decided to share them here. The 1st pic is of an actual "George Barris item" you can buy, not from me, but from his personal website. It's a 1966 BAT-CAR Lapel Pin made out of metal & when I last checked it was only $8.00, a great deal. The 2nd photo is of a fine art painting I saw on the Jonathan Levine Art Gallery website. An artist named M. Todd did this wonderful painting totally inspired by the famous TV car. I really like the primative, almost child-like, style of the art...very nice. The last photo is sort of a humor photo but it's also extremely cool because it's real. This is one of those little micro-mini eco cars that have been popping-up lately. This one has been totally customized to look like Batman's car! It's black, with classic red pinstriping, just like the Barris Car. Also, Ya gotta love those big-tailfins! Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed some of these pics, I thought they were cool. CUSTOM MIGHTY MUGGS FIGURES: Batman, The Joker, & The Scarecrow Too!

OK, This morning, when trying to decide what to post today, I got into a total "Celebrate Creativity" kind of mood, ha ha! Ya know, I like when Batman Fans get creative & make artwork or crafts to show their appreciation for the character. Some creative people out there like to customize things. Here's a great example: Here are 3 Custom Mighty Muggs Figures that have been totally repainted to look like Batman ( the Michael Keaton 1989 movie version ), The Joker ( Jack Nicholson, '89 version ), & The Scarecrow ( From the newer Batman Begins & The Dark Knight movies ). These are just so well done I had t post them! Plus, they're kinda funny too. Now, for people unfamiliar with the "toy business". Mighty Muggs Figures are made by Hasbro & they make actual products like this of G.I. Joe, Transformers, Star Wars, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Marvel Comics Superheroes, etc...but they DO NOT make DC Comic characters ( Mattel has the exclusive license ). So, for some people who love these figures, but want DC Universe-Style characters, they just go ahead & make their own. Custom Toy: THE DARK KNIGHT JOKER-CYCLE Action Figure Vehicle!

I don't really mean for today to be "Custom Toy Day" but that's kinda how it sort of randomly happened, ha ha! But you'll like this cool post so be quiet! Our good friend Danica sent me this photo of a JOKER CYCLE that her friend Damian made. He used an older toy made by Kenner for their DARK KNIGHT action figure line. Now, back when this vintage toy was made "The Dark Knight" movie was not even an idea yet & they just called their line of Batman toys "The Dark Knight Collection". I remember when they were in retail stores & they made some really great stuff! I have especially always loved this Joker Bike & it's sort of an obscure toy today. Now the original Joker-Cycle had a HUGE "Joker Head" on the front of the motorcycle & when you hit a button it flew off like a weapon. What Damian did was replace the face with one of the "Joker Goon Masks" that came with the brand-new line of Movie Masters action figures. He also custom painted the bike a little bit to make it more modern-looking. The Joker Bank Robber Goon action figure looks pretty awesome sitting on there too! Now the photo that Danica sent was pretty BIG & plus the toy is pretty awesome so I thought it would make a great Batman Desktop Background. CUSTOM ACTION FIGURE of HARVEY BULLOCK ( Gotham City Police Detective )

A Loyal Bat-Blog Reader named Ken sent us these photos he wanted to share. He made a custom toy of HARVEY BULLOCK ( Gotham City Police Detective ) from a Spawn TWITCH action figure & oh my god, it's AWESOME!! He said he didn't re-sculpt it too much but it took a lot of repainting. He also made some mini Wanted Posters too. Thanks Ken, you did a wonderful custom job here that you should be very proud of. I've included a picture of Dec. Bullock from the comics to jog people's memory a little bit. The figure looks great! Now, of course, I always loved Harvey from the "Batman: The Animated Series" TV cartoon.

A Very Cool Custom Batman Movie-Inspired Electric Guitar

Here are some really nice photos of a wonderful custom paint job for an electric guitar. It now has a "Batman Theme" that seems to have been inspired by the new THE DARK KNIGHT movie. It was made during the summer by a friend named Vince. I think it's pretty cool! On the front he painted a sunburst pattern with a Bat-Symbol Logo near the bottom. There is also a batsymbol on the back too. One thing to notice also is the very end of the neck was carved into a bat shape, a nice detail there! Overall it came out really great & is now a beautiful piece of art. The cool thing...it can play some serious music too! Thank you Vince for sharing these pics with us. You did an awesome job on this & you should be very proud. You ROCK, Sir!

CUSTOM TUMBLER BATMOBILE GO-KART! Inspired By The Dark Knight Movie

Sort of by accident today the Bat-Blog is featuring a lot of custom items that were inspired by THE DARK KNIGHT movie. But when I saw this video a friend sent me I knew it had to be posted right away, it's cool! This is the video by a guy who made a Custom Tumbler Batmobile Car Go-Kart. It's totally beautiful. I know I'd love to have one, ha ha! We featured this thing here awhile back, but they were just photos. Now, we get to see the thing in action. OK, get ready to drool!

CUSTOM TOY : 1966 BATMAN MOVIE BAT-COPTER

The very split-second I saw this beautiful piece of BAT-ART I knew it had to be posted at the Bat-Blog, ha ha! I just recently met this guy named Dave who likes to customize toys. He loves the 1966 Batman TV Show & Movie so he likes to make toys that they never made back then...sort of like "fantasy toys". Shown here is a replica of the 1966 Batman Movie Bat-Copter for a Custom 12" Adam West Batman Figure. Now of course the Bat-Copter is in perfect scale for this doll because he really used the Vintage 1970's GI Joe Adventure Team Helicopter! Yes! The one you got in the "Search For The Stolen Idol" Play Set. Now, I had this exact GI Joe toy as a little kid & totally loved. I mean, I really loved this toy! In fact, this was probably one of my Top 5 very best childhood memories. So, as soon as I saw this custom toy, I knew what he used to make it!! Now, on to Dave's '66 Bat-Copter. I've posted a few additional photos of the original GI Joe AT toy & a photo of the original Bat-Copter from the 60's movie. Looking at then both you can sort of see how he worked out all the details. Then you'll realize how great his Custom Job really is! He's got all the colors down pretty accurate. There's a Bat-Symbol on the gas tanks, a bat-shape on the lower front windshield, the famous "Bat-Wings", etc...Great Job Dave & thank you for allowing me to share your photo with everybody. I know that many people will totally love this thing!!

ART: THE JOKER - JACK IN THE BOX Custom Toy

Shown here are some photos of an amazing Custom Toy made by a Bat-Blog Reader known as "Turkey Bowinkle". Yeah, that's his name. You got a problem with that? But seriously he's a very creative person & he made this LITTLE JOKER Jack In The Box! It's a small wooden box with painted Joker Card graphics. When you open the lid - BOOM! - The Joker pops out! The Joker Figure is some sort of sculpted clay ( painted later ) with cloth clothing & green hair. I really love this little toy. It's so cool! The facial expression on Joker's face is really great & he does sort of look a lot like Cesar Romero from the 1966 Batman TV Show! So, "Turkey Bowinkle" is a very talented artist in deed! I wanna thank him for sending the wonderful pics & also invite all other Bat-Blog Readers ( with special art or craft projects ) to please send us some pics as well.

Custom ROBIN Batman Action Figure By John

Followers of the Bat-Blog might remember awhile back we showcased a few Batman Custom Action Figures made by our friend John. Well, he just sent us another photo of a recent design project. He made this Custom Robin Figure. Now, I was kinda curious about how he made it & this was his reply:

Robin uses a DC Infinite heroes Shazam head, Indiana Jones Mutt Williams torso and upper arms, Microman lower arms, Namor Superhero Showdown waist, SHS Human torch legs, and a whole lot of time with the Dremel and apoxy sculpt to shorten the legs and re-sculpt. Also a Kubrick Robin was used for his bat-belt.

Wow! I was kinda shocked it took so many different figures to make this one Robin, ha ha! But John did a very excellent job...it looks extremely cool! Thank you John for sending the photo & we look forward to seeing your future creations!

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BAT - Custom Batman Stormtrooper Toy

OK, ya gotta admit that even though this Custom "Batman Stormtrooper" Toy is very unusual, it's extremely well done! It's a work of ART. In fact, I think it's totally hilarious! This large figure was part of the recent "Sideshow Collectibles Art Trooper"custom project. It's a mash-up of the 1966 Batman TV Show & 1970's Star Wars Movie! It's like Adam West meets George Lucas, ha ha! I only have one picture here but a photographer named Tim Hanson did an amazing set of photos of this doll that you can see on Flickr, just click HERE!

BATMAN 1:2 Scale ART BUST STATUE - New Custom Paint Job

OK, here's sort of a sad story but with a happy ending. Shown here are 3 photos of an excellent Batman Art Bust Statue ( Large 1:2 Scale ). But many of you who are familiar with this piece, made by DC Direct, is gonna say, "Hey, the colors are all wacky!" Ha Ha! Well, this Bat-Statue is owned by our friend Dallas & he had to have it both restored & repainted. Why? Because his small Son accidentally knocked this thing off a table & broke it in a few places leaving obvious damage. The nose was now gone & the cowl had broken areas. He had a friend fix it for him & since it was going to need to be repainted they decided to make it the traditional blue instead of the original black color. WOW! The statue now looks really great! Dallas' friend did a great job on it. The "blue" was an interesting choice & sort of reminds me of the older Silver Age Batman...very cool! ( Thanks to Dallas for sending us the cool pics ).

Video - Custom Life-Size Batmobile Car From Batman: The Animated Series

Batman: The Animated Series still ranks as one of my all-time favorite Batman cartoons. I mean, I love the new "Brave and the Bold", but nothing will ever beat the old 90's series. One cool thing about that TV show was the Art Deco Style Batmobile. Well, check out the video down below. Here is a Batman Fan, who I think is an Italian, showing his custom-made Batmobile car. Now it's not totally & completely perfect ( like he made it a "one-seater", not two ), but it is extremely nice. After watching the video click HERE to see some wonderful photos of this car.

Custom Art BATMAN LOGO SYMBOLS Metal Sculpture

The BAT-BLOG recently had a fan named Thomas send us these pictures to share and they're pretty interesting. Thomas has a friend who is a Sculptor & Product Designer who does custom artwork with metal. Thomas said, "I always thought it was pretty cool and he made really awesome stuff, but I never thought it would be anything I'd want to buy... until NOW!" Ha! What he's talking about is this amazing BATMAN SYMBOL LOGO Wall Relief Sculpture. Meaning, that it has a sort of 3D quality about it. Batman Fans will all know the symbols used here. Basically we got the "Classic Yellow Oval", then the more "Modern-Day" version. Then on top of that is the current logo used for the movie franchise...WOW! These Custom Made BATMAN Toys ROCK!

Here's a quick post to share a few photos sent in by 2 Bat-Blog Fans named John & Mike. They're both very creative people & have made some really cool Custom BATMAN Toys!

John's story goes like this:
For awhile he's been into finding old broken action figures & improving them. He said he has always wanted to do a Custom "Comic Action Penguin" & he recently found a broken one he could work on. Now, for people who don't know, "Comic Action" Figures were made around 1976 by MEGO & they practically have a cult following. One thing about them, that gives them a lot of charm, is that they were kinda cheesy, ha! But John gave his figure some new legs & custom paint job. The result is pretty impressive.

Mike's story goes like this:
Mike is a Father of 2 kids who totally love Cartoon Network's BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD animated series. They love to play with the toys and action figures of the characters from the TV show. But the problem was, no matter how hard they looked, they could never find the "Robin" figure & really wanted one. So, their Dad made them the 2 shown here. The 1st photo shows how he made a Robin figure to go with the regular Batman Action Figure from the toy line by Mattel. The 2nd photo shows a custom "Robin" toy of an "Action League" mini-figure. So, 2 different toy lines are covered here. Plus, Mike did an amazing job on these & the kids totally love playing with them! Thanks to both Toy Custom Artists for sharing their work. We want to invite all other Bat-Blog Fans out there to do the same.
