Super Mario Final Level Leather Belt

Holy crap—I would wear this belt with everything (even a suit). Unfortunately, I don’t have a sister as talented as Julia from Saluki Feathers. She handcrafted this belt featuring the entire final level in Super Mario Bros. for her younger brother’s birthday and is currently hard at work on a League of Legends version for her older brother.

Check out a couple of shots after the break featuring the belt in-progress.

New Trailer for ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’

Aliens fans are probably already aware that the franchise is dropping another video game on us in about a month and a half. This one is called Aliens: Colonial Marines and looks to be a FPS for the most part. And with its upcoming release is a new trailer to entice people into buying and playing the game, of course.

The game is a sequel to the movie Aliens, dealing with events immediately following the film. To emphasize this connection, the new trailer features a warning message from none-other-than Corporal Hicks. But do the marines listen and stay away from the alien-infested planet? Well, it wouldn't be much of a game if they did, right?

So, without further ado, here is the latest trailer:

Look for Aliens: Colonial Marines to be hitting the shelves at your local game stores come February 13th of next year.

‘Warm Bodies’ – First Four Minute Preview

These days, zombies are everywhere. Writers and directors are trying to cram the undead menace into pretty much any genre they can think of. And while we've had plenty of zombie comedies come to theaters, the latest flick, Warm Bodies, takes that to the next level by adding some romance to the mix. That's right, a beautiful love affair between a zombie and one of the living.

So you say you don't trust zombies anymore? Think a romantic comedy zombie film is taking it a step too far? Well, now you can check out the first four minutes of the movie and see if that convinces you that it's worth the price of admission.

And here it is:

width="600" height="340" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iI1AkFh3QgU?version=3&hl=en_US" allowFullScreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" />

Doesn't have my money, but I'm sure I'll be Netflixing it when the time comes.

Directed by Jonathan Levine, Warm Bodies is based on a book by Isaac Marion and stars Nicholas Hoult as the dead guy, "R", as well as Teresa Palmer as his living crush, Julie. Check it out in theaters on February 1st, 2013.

Thanks to /film for the heads up.

Winged Captain America Costume Beanie

Fight the cold with this winged Captain America beanie that doubles as a mask. Just pull the light blue beanie down over your eyes and no one will know that it’s you trudging along in the snow. It’s also got a felt “A” on the forehead and two teeny, tiny felt wings that stick out from the sides.

Incredibly Fantastic Assassin’s Creed III Cosplay

It’s cool enough that people make such kick ass costumes, but I’m really impressed when they go the extra mile and spend so much time on the details. These Assassin’s Creed III costumes look weathered and aged, and I bet the cosplayers racked up the hours making sure they were screen accurate and authentic. Well freaking done.

Photographed by V-Pix.

A second-year student, and a student coach, Aido Riko has a unique ability to immediately scan and evaluate the physical capabilities of players at a glance. She learned this skill from going to work with her father, who is a sports trainer, and spending her time looking at the muscles of athletes and their related data. She is very devoted to her job as a coach, and thus she diligently researches other teams to devise strategies against them.

Haseo is an Adept Rogue commonly known as the "Terror of Death". He is a cold person but a great leader who is willing to risk everything for his friends. When one of his closest friends named Shino was attacked by Tri-Edge, Haseo stopped at nothing to find out what happened to her and tried get his revenge. In the real world, Shino had fallen into a coma and Haseo's player, Ryou Misaki, visited her everyday.

Amazing details and an absolutely stunning shot! He actually does look pretty intimidating, and I know I wouldn't be able to approach a character like that. Thanks to Warren for sending this in!

When Ciel and Sebastian went undercover to pursue the Viscount of Druitt, they didn't realize that Ciel's fianc , Elizabeth Ethel Cordelia Middleford would also be attending the summer ball. As the pair tried their best avoid Lizzy, Ciel's (or rather "Robin's")beautiful dress caught her eye. Lizzy tried to catch up to Ciel but was distracted by Sebastian's quick-change, pretending to be a magician as the ball's entertainer.

Ciel's attractive features and small frame does let him pass as a girl, but I suppose the proper term for this would be a "trap"! Thanks again to Jenny for sending this in!

More Fuel for the Peter Jackson Working on ‘Doctor Who’ Fire

At a screening of the Doctor Who Christmas special, “The Snowmen” earlier this week, the same one where Steven Moffat spoke about the new TARDIS and their 50th anniversary plans, Peter Jackson was also in attendance and again was asked about the likelihood he’d ever direct or collaborate on an episode of Who. His response, given with a grin,Well, you never know, we may well do.

Is this some cheeky teasing or is there a chance? Ian McKellen supplied the voices of the snowmen in the upcoming Christmas special which could be why Jackson was at the screening. Or, since he and Moffat have worked together before on Tin Tin maybe they’re looking to work together again. Jackson’s an admitted fan of the series, so it doesn’t sound impossible.

What does sound unlikely is Jackson working on Doctor Who anytime soon. The director’s already announced he’s hoping to release the next Tin Tin flick in 2015, plus there’s that little job of finishing up those Hobbit sequels.

What do you think of Jackson working on Who? And when would you expect him to find the time? Would he insist it be shot in 48 fps?

Mayans Predict ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Will Happen On Yavin 4

Get a Costco sized grain of salt ready for this Star Wars: Episode VII rumor, Reuters has posted an article titled ‘Maya apocalypse and Star Wars collide in Guatemalan temple‘, in what I assume is the almost 200 year old trusted news sources first attempt at SEO link baiting.

Remember the temple from Episode IV on the planet Yavin 4? Well its real and its in Guatemala. With this Fridays Mayan scheduled apocalypse looming, Reuters is on had to awkwardly mash Star Wars and the end of the Maya Long Count calendar together.

“If it is the end of the world, hopefully Luke will come and blow up that Death Star,” said Alex Markovitz, a 24-year-old consultant and Star Wars fan from Philadelphia, looking out over the site of Skywalker’s rebel base. “I see why they shot here. It doesn’t look real. It looks like an alien planet.”

“Something big is going to happen,” said the president of Guatemala’s Star Wars fan club, entrepreneur Ricardo Alejos. “The Maya were an incredibly precise people. Something big is going to happen and we’ll find out what in a few days.”

I don’t know about you, but for my piece of mind I always check in with the local Star Wars fan club president for information about the end of the world. Now, they don’t just talk about the apocalypse, they also float out a baseless rumor about the Star Wars sequels plot.

“Yavin 4 and the rebel base return to the Star Wars plot in the forthcoming Episode VII, announced in October by the Walt Disney Co, in which Skywalker comes back to the planet to build a Jedi Knight academy. However, fans said that Disney will likely film those scenes in a studio rather than return to Tikal.”

So…. where are they getting this from exactly? Just fans on hand? Did a tour guide mention this? Some petroglyphs perhaps? The writer really just drops that little slice of information in there without batting an eye or citing any kind of source. Come on man, this is the internet, be responsible!

While it seems possible, hell even favorable, I’d say we hold off till something more official floats out onto the internet. That goes for both for a new Jedi temple on Yavin 4 and the end of the world.

Is ‘The Twilight Zone’ Coming Back to TV?

With director Matt Reeves moving on to direct Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the Leonardo DiCaprio produced Twilight Zone movie — a separate entity, unrelated to the original 1983 film — very nearly in a state of development hell, that hasn’t stopped networks from trying to get the Twilight Zone television series back on the air and CBS is one step closer to seeing it happen.

Entertainment Weekly has learned that Bryan Singer will be the executive producer on what would be the fourth iteration of the series for CBS TV Studios. It’s not hard to see why they’d bet big on Singer either: a well-known genre director and producer whose upcoming work on X-Men: Days of Future Past may double down on his credibility among fans, Singer surely has the goodwill and bankability to get this project off the ground and not piss fans of the original off in the process. With that said, right now the show is still in the very early stages of conception and CBS might air the series on or with the cooperation of another network or abandon it altogether, rendering these words useless and my time lost into the ether of of things un-remembered and misspent… or something.

So, why now? Well, anthology series has been on the cusp of the death breath for quite some time but there is a mini indie-horror resurgence with the ABCs of Death and V/H/S. I’d also be remiss if I left out the always buzz-worthy American Horror Story and it’s anthology approach, though of course AHS switchs up every season and not every episode. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out once more information comes out from the fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man -a.k.a: Hollywood.

Yes Virginia, ‘The Hobbit’ Will Have Deleted Scenes

We all remembered those extended editions of The Lord of the Rings, right? Well, that book is a 1,000 page tome that only a combined running time of nearly 12 hours could do any justice to.

The Hobbit, meanwhile, is a 300 page book, and the first film that’s based on it, the first of three, comes in at 2 hours and 49 minutes. So what could possibly be left to say in the finished film? Surely there won’t be a litany of deleted scenes or the chance for an extended edition this time like there was with the first Rings trilogy.

Or will there?

An enterprising fan put together a montage of stills from the trailers for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Imgur that reveals just how much may have been cut from the finished film. Surprised? Horrified? Bored? Take a look at the slideshow below and ponder, just how long a director’s cut of An Unexpected Journey might be…

More Zombies! John C. Reilly and Aubrey Plaza Joining the Trend

Waves upon waves of zombies assault us on a daily basis. The hordes are here, but they're not in the streets of our cities. Instead, they're invading our movie theaters and television sets with a stream of zombie-themed programming, some of it good, most of it not-so-good. One more attack is underway as John C. Reilly (AKA Dr. Steve Brule) and Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) are set to come together in a zombie comedy.

Named Life After Beth, the only thing we known about the new project is that it is, in the words of Plaza, "a really fucked-up movie." Hmm... doesn't sound like much of a comedy, but who knows? Jeff Baena (I Heart Huckabees) is writing the script and will be taking his first shot in the director's chair with this film.

Any opinions from the peanut gallery? Too many zombie films? Worth it to see Reilly in a movie of this genre? Could care the hell less?

Wiseman Offers Details About ‘Mummy’ Reboot

Oh yeah, you thought they had forgot, didn’t you? But no, Len Wiseman is still working towards making the remake of The Mummy his next film, and while out promoting the DVD release of Total Recall, Wiseman had some words about his next project, courtesy of Movie Web:

“There was skepticism. The difference between the two, if The Mummy is to be the next movie for me, is that The Mummy is a completely different film,” he says when asked whether or not his views on remakes has changed since Total Recall. “It is a modern day take. It doesn’t have anything to do with the Brendan Fraser films, and it is not a remake of any kind. The Mummy is one of Universal’s long standing, iconic characters, well before the Brendan Fraser movies… This is such a different thing. What was attractive to me…There is still a script to be written, and all of that….But the pitch was to go with a much different tone. It was a Mummy like I’d never heard of before. It’s nothing like what you would expect, at all, oddly. I was picturing Egypt, and the sand swept settings. The mummy wrappings. When I heard what they were wanting to actually do with it, it was shocking.”

“Shocking?” The film is being scripted by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, authors of Transformers and Star Trek, and Universal is aiming for a 2014 release date. Frankly, I think the only shocking thing for me will be living to see the day that Len Wiseman pursues an original idea, and before you say Underworld let me add, “Worlds of Darkness.”

So what do you think, Bastards? Interested in seeing Wiseman/Orci/Kurtzman’s new take on The Mummy?

Nerd Art Dump: Namor Seduces the Invisible Woman, Avengers Animals, Zombie Doctor Who & MOAR!

It don’t matter if your husband is one of the five brightest minds of the Marvel universe, If Namor is looking to break off a piece he’ll oil himself up more then a chippendales dancer. A collaborative piece by Jae Lee and Jose Villarubia this shows just how deadly the Sub-Mariner is when he’s sick of getting Dolphin tail. [Comics Alliance]

Hit the jump for Sailor Moon, Zombies and MOAR.

Now this is a Sailor Moon that’s seen some shit, not the Sailor Moon that uses love to save the day. If there was some kind of gritty reboot this would be a perfect representation of it, now if we only knew who drew this awesome shot. *If this happens to be yours by all means let us know, we’ll credit you. [Comic Book Women]

We’ve seen the characters of Street Fighter look the same twenty-five years, even the 1994 movie had them looking the same. So artist Filip Acovic brought it upon themselves to give the famous fighters a bit more realism then Jean-Claude Van Damme could handle, featuring Guile, Zangief, Balrog, Blanka and Sagat in a more realistic setting. Sagat does look like Filip just redrew Wes Studi, which could be weird if he’s never seen the movie. [Geek Tyrant]

You know you’ve got gold when Joss Whedon has seen this and featured it on his Facebook page, which is exactly what happened to Ry-Spirit. An animal take on the famous comic book characters, you can’t help but grin at Thor flying through the air with his tongue sticking out. Still wouldn’t mess with the Hulk cat, a scratched sofa would be the least of our worries. [Deviant Art]

Ken Haeser didn’t just draw one X-Men/Muppets cover -he drew six, each featuring a different Muppet. Hit the link to see the Wolverine/Animal mash-up cover, I would pay good money to see that series get made for kids. [A Godly Servant]

Troy and Abed may have made their fictional morning show popular, but Star Trek‘s Data and Geordi were doing it before it was cool. A drawing by Halifax, Nova Scotia artist Faith Hicks, this became so popular that there are now several Tumblr related pages on the idea and with the holodeck on ship they could have been playing Inspector Spacetime too. Let’s see you run with that idea Internet. [Nerd Approved]

Spider-Man has always had some pretty awesome comic book battles, you don’t go 50 years in the comic book industry with having at least one or two at some point. So Francesco Mattina, an artist who’s done several covers for Marvel, put together the wicked one on one fight between Spider-Man and the proper, CG free, Lizard and judging by the destruction they’ve been at it for a while, two to three issues tops. [XombieDIRGE]

It’s not everyday you see two adversaries getting along like M.A.S.K‘s Gloria Baker and V.E.N.O.M’s Vanessa Warfield are here, but that day is today. [Deviant Art]

These People are Starring in ‘Transformers 4′ – Weep for Them

All right, maybe it’s not all that bad. I can guarantee Nicola Peltz and Brenton Thwaites will make more money with this film than I will in a year. Probably in several years, but at least I can hold my head high and proclaim I’ve never been in a Michael Bay Transformers movie.

Ugh, look at what an old wanker this makes me sound like. Stupid kids, succeeding at things.

Anyway, the two rising stars has nabbed the leads in Transformers 4. Peltz starred in The Last Airbender – hmm, another unfortunate film on the girl’s CV – and will next appear in A&E's Bates Motel, so, at least she’s got that. Thwaites on the other hand seems to be a little better off having a key role in Disney’s upcoming, Maleficent.

In Transformers 4 Peltz will star as Mark Walhberg‘s daughter – hey, remember when he wasn’t even going to be in this movie? – and Thwaites as her biker boyfriend. Aren’t you excited?

Transformer 4 is set to release June 27, 2014.

Because Anything Can Be Made Into a Movie, Prepare for ‘Angry Birds’

Do you like playing Angry Birds on your mobile device? That’s nice. Well how about going to your local multiplex to see Angry Birds the Movie? Before you say anything – too late! – it’s already in development.

The epic three year battle between the eponymous splenetic fowl and their arch-nemesis the pigs (yeah, I don’t get it either) will soon be translated to the big screen courtesy of producer John Cohen (Despicable Me) and executive producer David Maisel (Iron Man). Rovio Entertainment, the developer behind Angry Birds the game, will be making the film in house under its new animation banner that they hired Maisel to shepherd last year.

Cohen, meanwhile, brings considerable animation experience with him to the film. At Fox he worked under the Blue Sky shingle and helped develop hits like Ice Age, Robots, and Horton Hears a Who before going to Universal and producing the hit Despicable Me. So I’m sure he’s more than capable of developing some kind of narrative out of the game. Otherwise the plot will go something like this.

When a bunch of pigs do… something… somebody gets their sling shot and fires birds at them. But, you know angry birds. And sometimes they have powers. Or are Star Wars themed. Uh, the end.

Angry Birds is looking to be released in theaters sometime in 2016, when either we’ve all gotten over it or it will be as ubiquitous as computer solitaire.
