Known to be a hard worker, Marisa is trying to catch up to Reimu with her secret training and magic development. This makes her a good contrast to other humans appearing in the series because most of them either have natural born talent like Reimu, or strong abilities like Sakuya. So she is sometimes referred as the "most human-ish human" in Touhou Project.
